What is the purpose of the study?
The purpose of this study is to learn more about how opiate use disorder affects dopamine in the brain.

Who can participate in the study?

  • 18-65 years old
  • Willing and able to provide written informed consent
  • Moderate or severe opiate user
  • Receiving or not receiving medication-assisted treatment (buprenorphine or methadone) for opiate use

What will participants be asked to do?
The research study involves one day for screening and three days for tests and procedures.

Location
The NIH Clinical Center is America’s Research Hospital located in Bethesda, Maryland, on the Metro red line (Medical Center stop).

Compensation and travel cost:
Participants will receive compensation for research-related discomfort and inconveniences. NIH will provide travel to and from the Clinical Center in Bethesda, Maryland within the United States. You may receive accommodations if an overnight stay is necessary.
